Te Kopikopiko o te Waka, translates as ‘the capsized canoe’ and was conceived, designed and carved by Kāti Māhaki, a hapū of Ngāi Tahu and Ngāti Māmoe, in partnership with DOC and the local community.

Base yourself at spruced-up Fitzroy Beach for Taranaki’s Winter Fest
Taranaki’s Winter Fest (June 6–16) is a feast of fabulous events including live music, theatre, comedy and dance. Hit a hole in one at Hanmer Springs this winter

Kayak or cruise to one of the world’s best beaches
Coromandel’s Cathedral Cove has recently been named amongst the world’s top 50 in an annual best-beach-list selected by travel professionals and journalists. While the cove’s walkway is under repair, you can still visit on memorable kayaking and boat trips with local operators.
