Nestled between mighty Tongariro and beautiful Pihanga, on the shores of privately owned Lake Rotoaira.
Opened in April 2026, Te Puna o Rotoaira offers a range of accommodation for individuals, couples, whānau and groups, including standard cabins, ensuite cabins, self-contained kitchen and ensuite cabins, accessible cabins, powered campervan sites and unpowered tent sites.
Our facilities include a wharekai, shared ablutions and laundry facilities, playground and basketball court, with guests also able to enjoy direct access to Lake Rotoaira for swimming, fishing and time spent by the water.
Owned by Lake Rotoaira Trust, our campground has been developed with a strong connection to our whenua, roto and people. Manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga are at the heart of how we welcome manuhiri and care for this special place. The names throughout the campground carry connections to the surrounding whenua, while our approach encourages visitors to respect and help protect the environment during their stay.
Te Puna o Rotoaira is also well positioned for visitors wanting to experience the wider Tongariro area, whether they are here for outdoor adventures, fishing, exploring the surrounding rohe, or simply spending quality time with whānau.
We offer a peaceful place to stay, reconnect and enjoy the natural surroundings, while sharing a little of what makes Lake Rotoaira and our rohe so special.
