The camp is bordered by a bird sanctuary where 45 species of wildlife have been recorded as nesting. These include 3 species unique to New Zealand. The NZ Dotterel, the Variable Oystercatcher and the Fairy Tern. There are many natural attractions in the area. These include The beautiful Bream Bay beaches – the coast extends 22 kms southward from Marsden Point to Waipu Cove. This area combines typical NZ countryside with the most beautiful coastal scenery. It also offers very safe swimming and fishing.
