The Tongariro crossing (touted as New Zealand’s best one day walk and attracting over 100,000 visitors a year) is very close by, so we make the ideal spot to stay if you want a challenging hike, experiencing this one day adventure. Tongariro Expeditions runs a daily summer return Shuttle service to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing from here at the Holiday Park. When snow blankets the mountains and ranges in winter, Tongariro Holiday Park is the perfect spot to head for a skiing or snowboarding holiday, with equipment hire right on site. And after a long day traversing the Tongariro crossing or hitting the slopes, you can come ‘home’ to our park, hang your mountain gear in the drying room and soak your tired muscles in our hot spa pool. Summer brings new pleasures to Tongariro Holiday Park– lakes and rivers abound for you to swim, kayak, raft or go Trout fishing in, and there is a plethora of walking tracks, whether you want to stroll a short distance to a hidden waterfall for a swim, or head out on a more serious trekking experience.
