Moving with the times, New Zealand’s holiday parks have become just as famous for their awesome built accommodation and fabulous facilities as being brilliant places to pitch your tent or park your van.
From cute wee cabins and marvellous motels, to glorious glamping tents and fancy five-star apartments, there are accommodation options to suit all tastes and budgets, with the bonus of being set in peaceful, spacious surrounds. Throw in hot tubs, swimming pools, bouncy pillows, mini-golf and more, and you’ve got yourself a holiday that’s hard to beat.
They’re super cycle-friendly too, making great bases for folks biking the 23 Ngā Haerenga Great Rides, and New Zealand’s other fantastic cycle trails and mountain bike parks.
Below is just a small taste of the awesome accommodation you can expect…
Cute, comfy cabins
Looking for somewhere to stay without breaking the bank? Great value accommodation doesn’t mean scrimping on quality and comfort. You’ll be hard pushed to find one of our holiday parks that doesn’t have a fine line in affordable cabins that you’d be happy to have your Mum stay in.
Swanky motels and top-end apartments
Swap carports and concrete quads for motels and villas surrounded by leafy grounds and the sounds of the sea and/or birdlife, and folk having fun in the sun. And, you don’t have to head for the city or Airbnb for fully equipped, lux apartments either. Holiday parks have more A-lister-worthy apartments than you can shake a bottle of Bolly at.
Glorious glamping
Looking for that quintessential camping experience but don’t want to compromise on comfort, why not indulge in a spot of on-trend glamping beneath the stars. Choose from safari-style canvas palaces to state-of-the-art geodesic domes with all mod-cons. For all our holiday parks that offer glamping, click here.
Urban holiday parks
Visiting the big smoke for a well-earned city break? There’s a surprising number of peaceful holiday parks that put you close to the action in our major towns and city centres.
Group therapy
Family reunions, significant birthdays bashes and school groups are well catered for with ample accommodation ranging from bunk rooms and dorms to multi-room apartments and large lodges.
Fabulous facilities
Modern, clean communal facilities such as kitchens, lounges, games rooms and shower blocks are just the tip of the iceberg. Today’s holiday parks often offer more things to do on site than many resorts. In fact, some are resorts, where you can enjoy a happy holiday without even heading out the gates.
Hot tubs, saunas, swimming pools, adventure playgrounds, mini-golf and go-karts for the kids are all commonplace.
Friendly, local staff are also expert at connecting you with the best businesses and activities in the area, and often happy to sort bookings. Bikers are particularly well catered for with many parks designated ‘Cycle Hubs’, where staff can point you in the direction of the best trails and hook you up with local mechanics and shuttles. Some even have quality bikes for hire if you don’t have your own.
A feast of food and drink
More and more holiday parks are offering enviable places to eat and drink on site. Choose from coffee carts, ice cream vans and food trucks, or pizza joints on beachside patios with fully licensed bars. Lake Taupō Holiday Resort even boasts a thermally heated lagoon with swim-up bar and cafe. Let the kids enjoy a movie on the poolside big screen while you enjoy a snack and tipple or two. Everyone’s a winner!
